Angela
Graefenhain shares her artistic impressions with you as a colorist
with contemporary flare. She is a painter of many media, but mainly
gouache, an opaque water medium with vivid color impact. Other media,
such as oil, acrylic, cut paper, and gold leaf, is often added to
this artist's work. Open to many kinds of subject matter, Angela
paints subjects of nature, still life, landscapes, and scenes from
her travels to Europe, Asia, and the southwestern United States.
Angela's Italian heritage has influenced her style and subject matter
as well.
There
is a crisp and energetic quality to Angela's work to which the artist
says, "I want my art to make the viewer feel happy and excited
about what they are seeing in the art. I celebrate life in my work
and to me, that is everything."
Angela
has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters
Degree from Benedictine University. Although not majoring in Fine
Art, Angela studied sculpture and drawing extensively at the University
of Wisconsin.
Having
received several awards, Angela has her work in many corporate collections,
exhibitions, and art shows. Angela has to her credit a fruit still
life piece, which was chosen for a book cover for West Publishing
and has done work for advertising agencies. In November of 2001,
Angela's paintings were featured in Chicago Home and Garden magazine's
winter issue by showcasing her newly designed kitchen, which contains
her hand-painted canvas mural and paintings. This artist enjoys
doing commission work for individuals, murals, and special projects.
