| Where
do your ideas come from for your paintings? |
| |
|
When
I travel, I am always taking visual notes of the culture,
colors, and themes of the country. As a teenager, I
spent time in France and later, Korea. I filed away
those new, culturally rich experiences and I find those
influences coming out in my work now. My Italian heritage
and trips to Italy also have played a big part in my
work as I find Italian folk art so simple, but
beautiful. My family inspires me through their constant
support and encouragement.

|
| Have
any famous artists influenced your work? |
| |
Yes.
The stages, styles, and color phases that Picasso's work went
through are inspiring. The colors and shapes Matisse created
are so fresh and confident. Paul Klee's work has mystery, texture
and a natural quality. I love Van Gogh for his strokes of color
and happy subject matter that broke through despite his psychological
struggles. I love the strength and rich color of Diego Rivera. |
| |
|
| How
long have you been painting? |
| |
I
have been painting for about 17 years, but I have been interested
in art all my life. |
| |
|
| How
much does a painting cost? |
| |
Depending
on the size and time involved, the price varies. Typically,
the originals range from $125 (smallest 12" X 12")
to $3000 (larger sizes). Price quotes can be given by contacting
the artist. |
| |
|
| What
type of paint do you use? |
| |
For
about 10 years, I have painted mainly with gouache, a heavily-pigmented,
water-based paint. However, I use acrylic and oil paints more
lately for the rich color they produce. |
